Over 30 students from a Basque school experienced a Citizen Science Action held at the Technology Park of Zamudio and Derio organised by our partner EIT Food, in collaboration with Azti. They were introduced to careers in the agrifood sector, healthy eating, and ocean sustainability.
Students discovered the daily world of researchers through a guided visit to AZTI’s facilities, touring from the laboratory to the experiential kitchen, and rotating in small groups
across different activity stations. There, they engaged in scientific and sensory food experiments, created nutritious and original snacks, and tested their newly acquired knowledge through sector-related challenges and quizzes.
Later, they moved to EIT Food, where they took part in an activity based on the diverse biodiversity of the Atlantic Ocean and current fishing practices. Through gamified experiences, including card games and hands-on discovery with a DIY microscope, students gained a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems and sustainability.
