National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research (INIAV)

The National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research, IP (INIAV) is the Portuguese State Laboratory, in the area of ​​​​competence of Agriculture and Fisheries, which develops research activities in the agronomic and veterinary areas.
INIAV develops scientific and technological foundations to support sectoral public policies and promotes research, experimentation, and innovation in agroforestry, crop protection, food production, animal and plant health, food safety, and biotechnology. It operates as the National Reference Laboratory in these areas, ensuring laboratory analyses and official control plans are carried out in accordance with national regulations. INIAV collaborates with national and international institutions, participates in networks and consortia, and advises the Government and authorities. Its laboratories in Oeiras, Lisbon, Vairão, and Évora provide nationwide coverage, staffed by experienced researchers and senior technicians.
