Our partner CATAA participated in the National Agriculture Fair (FNA 2026), celebrated during 6th to 14th June at the Portugal’s largest agricultural fair, held in Santarém.

Throughout the event, CATAA promoted the Hub4Food project, presenting its objectives and activities to companies, researchers, students and the general public, while highlighting the role of marine bioresources in fostering innovation and sustainability within the agri-food sector.

Visitors had the opportunity to discover the project and taste an innovative food products developed with marine ingredients, showcasing their potential in creating healthier and more sustainable food solutions.

A key highlight of our participation was the organisation of two live showcooking sessions:

– ‘River Fish and Algae – Harmonia Fluvial’, led by Chef Leonel Barata.

– ‘The Sea and the Forest – Combining and Enhancing Bioactive Compounds from Two Distinct Ecosystems: Strawberry Tree and Algae’, led by Chef Rui Lopes.

These culinary demonstrations showcased the versatility of algae and other marine ingredients, illustrating how research and innovation can be translated into appealing, nutritious and sustainable food products while fostering dialogue between researchers, industry stakeholders and consumers.

With approximately 180,000 visitors over nine days, FNA 2026 provided an outstanding platform to increase the visibility of the HUB4Food project, strengthen stakeholder engagement and promote sustainable innovation in the agri-food sector. The National Agriculture Fair is recognised as Portugal’s largest agricultural fair and one of the country’s leading events dedicated to agriculture, livestock and food innovation.
