The aim is to reflect the level of knowledge and command within the food industry regarding new technologies, techniques and processes to develop market-ready innovative products.
The establishment of the roadmap is essential to address the evolving demands of the market, ensuring that companies and stakeholders in the agrifood sector are equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools to innovate effectively and sustainably.
The Hub4Food project aims to focus on a series of predetermined subsectors within the agrifood industry: seafood products, milk and dairy products, meat products, bakery and pastry, and prepared consumer food. These four subsectors are of common interest to the four regions participating in the project. Additionally, each region dedicates extra efforts to conducting research on one additional sector that reflects its specific production capacity: prepared consumer foods (Ireland), fruits & vegetables (France), beverages (Spain) and olive oil (Portugal).
It has also been identified a series of market trends in terms of development of new products and according to the target subsectors identified: healthy snacks & on the go format, no/low alcohol, personalised products & probiotics, plant-based products, products with low carb/fat and/or high proteins content, products with reduced salt content, products or ingredients good for health, wellness and immune system and superfoods and functional ingredients.
