On 20^th October, our partner EIT Food in collaboration with AZTI, Marine and Food Research Centre from the Basque Country, organized a Citizen Science Action with a group of 25 secondary school students where the sea became the central theme of a day.

During the session, students met professionals like Javier Franco (AZTI) and surfer Garazi Sánchez, who shared their experiences and highlighted the importance of scientific research and activism in marine conservation. The BIOOK team also led an interactive workshop on marine biodiversity and sustainable fishing, engaging students with hands-on activities to foster ocean awareness and stewardship.

Students discovered agrifood careers while learning about marine research, innovation and environmental protection.

This educational and sensory experience left a lasting impression on the participants, strengthening their connection with science, sustainability and the marine environment.
